Step Up For Students & PEP FAQ
You can find us by searching for "Nelson Jiu-Jitsu" within the EMA portal. If you have trouble locating our profile, please reach out to our front desk, and we can provide our specific provider details or EIN to ensure you're linking to the correct account.
The most common scholarships used at our academy are the PEP (Personalized Education Program) and the Family Empowerment Scholarship for Students with Unique Abilities (FES-UA). Both of these programs allow for "Instructional Programs" and "Physical Education" expenses.
In most cases, yes. The scholarship typically covers the cost of regular monthly tuition. However, it is important to check your specific student’s award balance in the portal. Any costs not covered by the scholarship remain the responsibility of the parent/guardian.
This depends on your specific scholarship type:
Direct Pay: Some scholarships allow you to select Nelson Jiu-Jitsu as a provider and pay directly through the portal.
Reimbursement: Some parents choose to pay tuition out-of-pocket and then submit their monthly receipt to Step Up For Students for reimbursement. We provide digital receipts for every payment to make this process seamless for you.
Currently, most Florida scholarships focus on instructional fees (tuition). While some programs allow for the purchase of required equipment, we recommend checking the most recent "Approved Expenses" list on the Step Up For Students website or your EMA dashboard before purchasing gear with scholarship funds.
Once you are enrolled, our billing system automatically generates a receipt for every transaction. These are emailed directly to you and can be downloaded at any time to be uploaded into the Step Up portal.
